Westbound Canadian Pacific transfer train passing through Hayford Junction. Chicago Illinois USA. July 2007.
I took this photo one hot and sunny morning in July of 2007. I was passing through Chicago's Ashburn neighborhood on the southside, and decided to stop at an old railfan photo haunt location of Mine from the 1980's. We are looking north at the Belt Railway of Chicago / Canadian National ex GTW crosstracks at Hayford Junction. Hayford Junction is located on Chicago's southwest side at West 75th Street and South Central Park Avenue. Here the east and west Belt Railway of Chicago tracks, cross the now single track Canadian National ex Grand Trunk Western line.
Seen here on this bright Summer morning in July of 2007, is a westbound Canadian Pacific heavy transfer freight train. This train is heading to the nearby Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard in southwest suburban Bedford Park Illinois. The jet airplane in the background, is coming in for a landing on approach to Chicago's Midway Airport.
