Old black and white photograph. Tuskegee Railroad locomotive # 101 in service. Cicrca 1940's.

Once in ahile, we can find treasures in our various collections of railroad photos, or any number of things we purchase at flea markets.

This old black and white postcard photograph, was taken somewhere in the State of Alabama. The locomotive shown here, is Tuskegee Railroad 2-6-2 type locomotive # 101. This particulair locomotive is preserved today, at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois USA. This locomotive was in service at the museum, until the 1986 season. It was stripped down for an overhaul after that, and is still undergoing a slow mechanical overhaul and restoration process. I will be posting some photos of this engine, in service at the Illinois Railway Museum soon here at My blog site.
