1920's era CTA 4000 series rapid transit car. The Fox River Trolley Museum. South Elgin Illinois USA. October 2005.

Many local Chicagoans rode these cars over the Chicago Transit Authority's elevated and subway lines from the 1920's, to their retirement in the early 1970's. Examples like the car shown here, operate today for visiting patrons at several railroad museums. The Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin Illinois, gives people a chance to experience how these well built cars were like to ride on. It is a lovely place to take Your family to visit during the operating season.
