A bright and sunny March day in 2007, finds a southbound Chicago Transit Authority rapid transit train operating on the Yellow Line AKA Skokie Swift in north suburban Skokie Illinois.
Prior to January 20th 1963, this was the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad mainline. This was the high speed Skokie Valley Route, wich many interurban electric trains raced daily from Chicago Illinois to Milwaukee Wisconsin. The line was built with overhead catenary wire through here, and maintained as such by the CTA due to a local Skokie city ordinance due to a fear of electrocution accidents. The line was converted to 100 % Third Rail operation in the year of 2004.
