Idling on the ready tracks. The Union Pacific M-19A Diesel Shop. Chicago Illinois USA. September 2007.

The Union Pacific Railroad maintains a very busy locomotive terminal on Chicago's westside at 400 North Pulaski Road. Formerly owned and operated by the Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad in past years, this facility is now the Union Pacific M-19A Diesel Shop. Locomotives from the Union Pacific -fallen flag predecessor railroads acquired through mergers, visiting locomotives from other railroads used on run through pool trains, and commuter locomotives from Chicago's Metra commuter rail agency are serviced here daily. I took this photo looking north from West Kinzie Street near North Kilbourn Avenue on a lovely sunny afternoon.
