The old Chicago Stadium on West Madison Street. Chicago Illinois USA. March 1985.

I took this photo while riding on a chartered fantrip excursion over the CTA Elevated. Seen here looking west from the Paulina Connector track, is the former Chicago Stadium wich was located on West Madison Street between Damen and Ashland Avenues. The Chicago Stadium for many decades, was the home of the Chicago Blackhawks NHL hockey team, The Chicago Bulls NBA basketball team, and various other events, such as the Ice Capades, and live music concerts by top name entertainers.

The Chicago Stadium was demolished and replaced by todays United Center in the early 1990's. The Chicago Transit Authority's Paulina Connector track wasn't used by passenger carrying CTA rapid transit trains in 1985. Back then it was only used for maintenance trains and non revenue equipment transfer moves between the Lake Street line ( Todays Green Line.) and the Congress or Douglas Park Lines. Today, the recently rebuilt Paulina Connector sees daily rapid transit trains from the CTA Pink Line to and from downtown Chicago Illinois.
