Metra / Burlington Northern commuter train arriving at the Harlem Avenue Station. Berwyn Illinois USA. April 1988.

It just wouldn't be Eddie's Railfan Page without including an older photo or two from My archives.

I took this picture on a lovely Springtime afternoon way back in April of 1988. The Metra commuter trains on the Burlington Northern 3 track Chicago to Aurora mainline, were still being pulled by these 1953 vintage rebuilt EMD E-9 passenger diesels at the time of this photo. They were retired in September of 1992. Some have found new homes in railroad museums today.

This commuter local, is seen arriving at the Harlem Avenue station at the border with west suburban Riverside Illinois. The winter browns, were giving way to springtime greens.
