Saint Clair of Montifalco Catholic Parish annual summer carnival. Chicago Illinois. June 1987.

One of My all time favorite summertime memorys I experienced growing up on the southwest side of Chicago, were the many annual visits to the local Catholic Church carnivals around the area.

A local southside carnival I visited on and off during the 1980's, was the one held by the saint Clair of Montifalco Parish located at West 54th Street and South Washtinaw Avenue. This carnival was located at the border of Chicago's Gage Park and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods.

I took this photo one hot summer evening way back in June of 1987. It is late afternoon /early evening...and the carnival has just opened up for business. Things are just getting started on this carnival midway, as a night time filled with fun and neighborhood celebration will soon begin.
