With hot swealtering temperatures in the 90's with high humidity outside, I waited at least 30 Minutes at the West Lake Avenue railroad crossing in north suburban Glenview Illinois, for this Union Pacific empty unit coal train to get a gren block signal from the dispatcher.
I spotted this former Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad coal hopper in transit, aboard a southbound Unon Pacific empty unit coal train passing through here on the U.P freight only Techny line.
This freight only bypass line, was originally owned by the now fallen flag railroad Chicago & NorthWestern. This line helps detour heavy freight train traffic off of the very commuter train busy Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road northline between Chicago and Northbrook Illinois, and the Union Pacific ex Chicago & NorthWestern "North" line to Kenosha Wisconsin between Chicago and Waukegan Illinois.
This Union Pacific empty unit coal train, had departed earlier from the Wisconsin Electric Power Company electrical generating plant in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin.
