Rare Historical Photo. Chicago's Brighton Junction during the CTA orange line construction. January 1990.

I took this now historic 35mm black and white photograph, way back in January of 1990.

We are on location at a place known by local Chicago railfans and train crews alike, known as Brighton Junction.

Brighton Junction was located just northwest of the intersection of South Archer and Western Avenues, in the area where Chicago's Brighton Park and Mc Kinley Park neighborhoods bordered on the near southwest side of Chicago.

Big changes were taking place in Chicago at this time. One of those big changes that is viewed here, was the construction of the Chicago Transit Authority's orange line rapid transit to Midway Airport. Heavy cranes and equipment are on the scene at this time.

Thanks.
Eddie K.

B&W gives the perfect feel for this old location. Nice job.
