If one looks carefully enough, obscure relics from railroads past can be found displayed at various locations around the Greater Chicagoland Area. This old steel cupola caboose from the long defunct Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railroad, is on dispaly in a city park alongside 80th Avenue, in south suburban Tinley Park Illinois. The real Rock Island Railroad passed through Tinley Park Illinois, until the railroad closed due to years of heavy bankruptcy in March of 1980. the former Rock Island mainline through Tinley Park Illinois today, is now owned and operated by the Iowa Interstate Railroad.
