A popular little train that operated for many years in the greater Chicagoland area, was the gasoline powered Kiddieland Limited at Chicago's Kiddieland Amusement Park, in near northwest suburban Melrose Park Illinois USA.
This train, was a replica of an old 1950's era North American diesel powered streamlined passenger train, from pre Amtrak times. It was even painted in the classic Southern Pacific style red, orange and black "Daylight" color scheme.
Kiddieland was in business from 1928 until 2009. The former Kiddieland Amusement Park site at the northwest corner of First and North Avenues, is now the site of a large Costco wholesale warehouse club store.
