Many years ago, the greater Chicagoland area had a number of small family owned amusement parks.
A popular one during the 1960's and 70's era, was the Adventureland Amusement Park, located at Illinois U.S Route # 20 and Medinah Road, in northwest suburban Addison Illinois.
From 1958 until 1961, this park was known as "Storybook Gardens".
After Chicago's Riverview Park had closed in 1967, many people began coming here. I visited adventureland once in 1976. Believe Me...it was a very small park in a picnic grove setting.
After Marriott's Great America opened in 1976 at Gurnee Illinois, the park had lost much business, and eventually closed in 1977.
Today, this is the site of a commercial business park with small office buildings.
