Eastbound CTA Route # 62 Archer / Dearborn-Kinzie bus passing the intersection of South Archer Avenue and west 43rd Street AKA Pope John Paul 2nd Drive. Chicago Illinois. April 1989.

I took this photo on South Archer Avenue in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood, way back in April of 1989.

1989 would be a year of transition for the Chicago Transit Authority, begining with this new white with blue and red color stripe scheme on the recently rehabbed 1970's era General Motors TDH Series Fishbowl Windshield transit buses.

New buses from Nova and Flxible were on order for the CTA, and a "New" rapid transit line from downtown Chicago to Midway Airport was under construction during this period.

In this photo, an eastbound CTA Route # 62 Dearborn / Kinzie bus enroute to downtown Chicago, passes the now long gone Silver Coin Restaurant at the corner of South Archer Avenue and West 43rd Street / AKA "Pope John Paul the 2nd Drive".
