A westbound Chicago Surface Lines West 63rd Street streetcar passing Chicago Municipal Airport. Chicago Illinois USA. Circa early 1940's.

This photograph was sent to Me via E Mail recently, by a Mr Robert Pitunjac from the Clear Ridge Historical Society of Chicago.

A westbound Chicago Surface Lines Company electric city streetcar from the CSL Rt 63 /63rd Street streetcar line, is viewed passing Chicago Municipal Airport.

In 1949, this airport was renamed Chicago Midway Airport in honor of the 1942 Allied victory battle at Midway Island in the Pacific Ocean against Japan.

Thanks Robert.
