I took this photo on a Springtime visit to the Fox River Trolley Museum way back in May of 1983.
The green and cream colored car shown here, is a 1020's era rapid transit car that was retired from the Chicago transit Authority during the early 1970's. These cars originally worked for the Chicago Rapid transit Company, wich later became the Chicago Transit Authority in November of 1947. These cars worked in daily service untill their retirement during the early 1970's. Many wound up in railroad museums.
These cars featured reversable wicker or rattan seats, incadescent lighting, overhead trolley poles and third rail shoes, air brakes, opening windows, and a single note air whistle.
