Empty skeleton lumber cars on a spur siding. Oak Lawn Illinois USA. June 2007.

I took this photo near the Oak Lawn Metra commuter rail station in Chicago's southwest suburbs. The Beatty Lumber Company is a freight customer on the Norfolk Southern ex Wabash Railroad line passing through southwest suburban Oak Lawn Illinois, and a local switching freight visits here at least once or twice a week depending on business. Sometimes more.

Metra provides Monday to friday commuter service on this line between Chicago and Manhattan Illinois. The village of Oaklawn has seen much in the line of local construction projects and upscale real estate development in recent years, as evidenced by the New commuter rail station and the parking garage seen in the background. New strip malls and condominium apartment buildings are being errected today.
