The Hesston Steam Museum. Hesston Indiana USA. Sunday, September 12th, 2010.

I took this photo at the carbarn leads near the Hesston Junction curve.

A familiar gasoline powered 2 foot narrow guage replica diesel switcher, this locomotive hauled passenger trains at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo during the 1970's and 1980's.

After the Brookfield Zoo decided to take the railroad out of service for good in September of 1985, the locomotives, cars and equipment sat in storage for 17 years. This was all eventually donated to the Hesston Steam Museum in 2002.

Chicago, Burlington & Quincy # 999 from the Brookfield Zoo, was built by the Sandley Locomotive and Machine Works of the Wissconsin Dells, Wisconsin along with the open coaches it had pulled. Today it is under restoration at the Hesston Steam Museum. www.hesston.org
