The era of the streamlined 1950's era EMD E-8 passenger service diesel electric locomotive, came to an end on the Metra / Chicago & NorthWestern owned northwest line to Harvard Illinois on Saturday, October 28th, 1989.
I took this photo during the "Farewell to the EMD E-8 Excursion", during our first photo runby location in far northwest suburban Palatine Illinois.
Metra's last three former Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad EMD E-8's, bowed out with a unique sight and sound all of their own style.
It was an overcast late October Autum day, quite fitting for a last run retirement charter fantrip.
