I took this photo after work one overcast afternoon, back in September of 2006.

We are at Commons Park in the west suburban village of North Riverside Illinois. A westbound Canadian National freight train, is viewed slowly traveling along the north perimeter of the park east of Des Plaines Avenue.

This train is traveling over the Canadian National owned former Illinois Central Railroad, Iowa Division Mainline.

This is a freight only line since 1981. Speeds are definately not those of a mainline railroad through here these days, as most of the freight trains travel through here at slow "Branchline" speeds.
