Bely Railway of Chicago caboose at Clearing Yard. Chicago Illinois. May1987.

I took this photo one pleasant Springtime afternoon, back in May of 1987.

I was bicycling over the top of the South Cicero Avenue overpass bridge above the Belt Railway of Chicago Clearing Yard facility near Midway Airport, and decided to stop and snap this photo looking east from the bridge.

A comom everyday piece of equipment on the BRC back then, were these old steam era short transfer cabooses. Long since replaced, two are known to be preserved today. One is on display in a park in the city of Hobart Indiana, while the other is at The Illinois Railway Museum located in Union Illinois.
