Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad steeplecab electric "Pup"locomotive # 452 at an unknown location in 1955.

I found this historic photo on the internet recently.

The Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad, was an electric powered high speed interurban railroad that operated between Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin USA.

The railroad passed through many of Chicago's northern outlying suburbs, in an area refered to as the "North Shore" of Lake Michigan.

A very important and money making working locomotive found on may interurban electric railroads, was the example shown here refered to as a "Steeple Cab" locomotive. This example served the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad in freight train and switching service.

Although the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee was very bankrupt and went out of business for good in January of 1963,a fair number of their coaches and some maintenance of way equipment have made it to museum preservation.

#452 Pup is located on the freight spur just North of Hawley in Mundelein. Suspect it's a little later than 1955.
