A BNSF Railway one car transfer train on a hold order. Corwith Yard. Chicago Illinois. January 2007., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photo one morning, back in January of 2007.
We are on location at South Lawndale Avenue at what would approximately be West 49th Street facing east, in Chicago's Archer Heights neighborhood.
Seen here is a BNSF Railway one car special movement or "Extra", waiting for the dispatcher to give clearance to depart from the nearby former A,T & S, F Corwith Yard.
I attended nearby Curie High School just a few city blocks west of here from 1977 to 1981, and spent much of My off time hanging around at this location.
Once clearance is given, this train will proceed westbound over the single track Belt Railway of Chicago branchline.
