I took this photo way back in August of 1983.
An old high school freiend of mine and Myself, had spotted this Grand Trunk Western Railroad business car, parked along the south edge of West 51st Street near South St. Louis Avenue, at the GTW Elsdon Yard site in Chicago Illinois.
The sun was setting here at the Elsdon Yard site at the end of this day, but it was also a sign of things to come in the near future.
The sun was also setting on the GTW Elsdon Yard facility, and the 1914 built steam era roundhouse at West 49th Street and South Kedzie Avenue. During October of 1983, the GTW had decided to officially "Close" Elsdon Yard, and demolish many of the buildings and facilities.
