Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad interurban coach near the Harrison Street station. Milwaukee Wisconsin circa 1950's.

I found this photo at My Link page Dave's Electric Railroads to the right of Your computer screen.

A popular way to travel between Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin some fifty something years ago, was by the electric high speed interurban trains of the Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee Railroad.

This photo was taken, more than likely during the mid 1950's. Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee interurban M.U coach # 720, is viewed near the Harrison Street station in downtown Milwaukee Wisconsin. The car is also wearing the "Last" new paint scheme used by the North Shore in it's final years in operation.

The Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee officially went out of busines due to several bankruptcies in January of 1963.

Luckilly, several cars from the Chicago, North Shore And Milwaukee, have been preserved at a number of railroad museums in North America. The Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois www.irm.org, has a sizeable collection of these themself.

The Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin Illinois, also has a couple of North Shore cars in their collection as well.
