Who says You can't ride on a Chicago city streetcar anymore? The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois USA.

My Mother and various other friends and relatives often told Me stories of riding the electric streetcars on Chicago's city streets many years ago in the windy city.

The last official streetcar run in Chicago took place on June 21st 1958, and it was all 100% motor bus after the last run fantrip charter.

Surprisingly, a small number of Chicago Surface Lines electric streetcars are preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. This car, CSL # 144, was built by the Pulman Standard Car Company of Chicago in 1908. It was in regular service untill May of 1954, and used on special fantrip charters untill the end of electric streetcar service in the city of Chicago. It has been lovingly restored, and operates on the grounds of the Illinois Railway Museum. Yes folks...You still can ride on a vintage Chicago city streetcar today.
