I took this photo on a sunny January morning way back in the year of 1984. A quartet of rebuilt 1953 vintage EMD model E-9 passenger cab unit diesel electric locomotives, are being hostled from nearby Chicago Union Station, to the Burlington Northern RTA commuter coach yard on South Canal Street. These former pre Amtrak passenger train service locomotives, are working their final years on Burlington Northern commuter trains between Chicago and Aurora Illinois. They would be finally retired from this in September of 1992. Several have wound up in various railroad museums today.
