Builders plaque on the Maple Avenue bridge. Wilmette Illinois USA. October 2009.

Builders plaque on the Maple Avenue bridge. Wilmette Illinois. October 2009.

Hi everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.

I took this photo recently, during a short lunchtime visit to nearby north suburban Wilmette Illinois. I couldn't resist taking a relaxing walk amongst seasonal Autum scenery along Maple Avenue. This old deck bridge on Maple Avenue, spans the north branch of the Chicago River. According to the builders plaque displayed on the northeast corner of the bridge, this elderly iron bridge was constructed in the year of 1908. It is till in use today here at the Maple Avenue location, wich says very positive things about the pride, craftsmanship and quality that went in to the design of this bridge 101 years ago. It is well maintained and still serving it's original purpose today.
