View looking south on Main Street around sunset. Memphis Tennesee USA. September 2007.
In September of 2007 My lovely wife Cheryl and I, traveled to the city of Memphis Tennesee for a much needed vacation. I took this photo on the day We both decided to ride aboard a local attraction known as The Memphis Main Street Trolley.
We are at the north end of the Main Street line looking south around sunset. The two electric streetcars that are seen here, are refurbished vintage W 2 class tram cars from the city of Melbourne Australia. Trolleys were refered to as "Trams" in Australia, Europe and other parts of the world.
The Memphis Main Street Trolley cars originally were operated with spring loaded trolley poles, but were later replaced by a single Pantograph instead. It was more practical, and it did not require the motorman to step out in to traffic on the street.
