A preserved Chicago Transit Authority 4000 series rapid transit car. The Illinois Railway Museum. Friday, July 3rd 2009.

I took this photo inside one of the many display barns at the Illinois Railway Museum. The car shown here, is a preserved 1920's era rapid transit car that served the city of Chicago Illinois for many years. These cars lasted in service in to the early 1970's. Many had found new homes in various railroad museums around the country. Cars like this are also operated today at the East Troy Electric Railroad and Museum in East Troy Wisconsin, and at the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin Illinois.
