Some of the more colorful local freight trains I have come to know in the greater Chicagoland area, are some of the Canadian Pacific Railroad ones that operate on the former Milwaukee Road west line. With a freshly painted bright red Canadian Pacific EMD roadswitcher on the lead, and a former Soo Line locomotive in pre 1990 Soo Line colors and markings, lead a local / transfer freight train past the Metra River Grove station at Thatcher Avenue.
