Amtrak Coach Class markings on a Horizon fleet coach. Glenview Illinois USA. Tuesday, May 8th, 2012., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
Those up close and sometimes ignored details on railroad equipment, can make for some fascinating photo subjects as well.
I took this photograph Monday evening after work this week, at the Glenview Illinois Amtrak / Metra commuter rail station in downtown Glenview.
Seen here is one of the two end vestibule entrance doorways, of an Amtrak Horizon fleet coach assigned to the Chicago to Milwaukee Hiawatha regional passenger train.
This car is wearing the Amtrak Phase 4 "Northeast Direct" color scheme decals and markings. Notice the two latches for opening or closing the upper and lower two section "Dutch Door" in the vestibule of the car to the left of the photograph.
These cars are constantly outside experiencing all of the weather and wind extremes Mother Nature can dish out, wich will eventually cause the decal markings to wear out, and look like they have taken quiete a beating in daily operations.
These cars feature interior flourescent lighting.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
