Hi folks!

This is Eddie K, Your host and photographer here at Eddie's Railfan Page. http://eddiesrailroad.blogspot.com/

Just recently, I had came up with an idea to host public speaking, multi media historic photo slideshow events about "Chicago's Historic Amusement Parks Of The Past".

The response to these events at several of the Chicago area suburban public libraries has been amazing.

I have lived in Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area all of My life, and was never quiete aware of just how many tiny little seasonal family owned amusement parks that there once was in the greater Chicagoland area. Although there was the huge  74 acre Riverview Park on North Western Avenue, there was an astounding number of small family owned and operated amusement parks, that resembled nothing more than a little traveling carnival.

I found this historic photograph of Chicago's long gone "Kiddy Town" amusement park in Norridge Illinois, at a unique internet blogsite entitled "Gorillas Don't Blog", wich is hosted by a gentleman named Major Pepperidge.

I have lived on the north side of the greater Chicagoland area since 2006, and have passed the corner of North Harlem and West Cullom Avenues in Norridge Illinois to and from work daily. I would have never guessed that this was actually the site of one of those now forgotten Chicago amusement parks of the past.

This photograph was taken in August of 1963, at the Kiddy Town Amusement Park, wich existed here at this location in Norridge Illinois from 1953 until 1966. Kiddy Town was a tiny amusement park that was marketed at parents with little children. This park was located immediately adjacent to the north side of the Harlem Irving Plaza Shopping Center indoor mall.

Thanks to this website and several hints, clues and stories from people who have visited My public speaking events, I have found yet another forgotten Chicago amusement park of the past to present in the future.

Thank You Major Pepperidge for a really great website!

Thanks.
Eddie K.
