Eastbound Burlington Northern freight train with a caboose. Berwyn Illinois. July 1985.

Hi everyone!

Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page, from the city of Chicago Illinois USA.

I began taking 35 MM railfan photographs around the greater Chicagoland area starting in 1983.

Just recently it struck Me, that many of the railroads I photographed, had disppeared recently through merger acquisitions by other railroads.

This photograph was taken at the Beryn Metra commuter rail station at South Oak Park Avenue and West Windsor Street in west suburban Berwyn Illinois.

It is a hot Summer afternoon way back in July of 1985, and a slow moving eastbound Burlington Northern Railroad freight train with a wide vision caboose on the rear passes through the station.

This freight train is heading in to the nearby Burlington Northern Railroad's Clyde Yard facility in adjacent Cicero Illinois.

Cabooses were disappearing from American freight trains around this time. In late 1995, the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe and the Burlington Northern had merged, and became todays BNSF Railway.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
