The Oak Park Society of Model Engineers H.O Scale Model Railroad Club. Oak Park Illinois USA. July 2011.

One of My favorite Chicago railroads I had grown up with in the Windy City many years ago, was the Illinois Central and the post 1972 merger succesor company Illinois Central Gulf.

I took this photograph last year, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers, H.o Scale Model Railroad Club.

Seen here crossing the former bridge on the club layout wich has since been replaced that represented a Missisippi River crossing, is My circa 1972 early merger era Illinois Central Gulf switching local freight trrain.

I can still recall the early merger era ICG trains on the near southwest side of Chicago. Sometimes they operated with Illinois Central locomotives, while other times they utilized locomotives acquired from the former Gulf, mobile & Ohio through merger. There were still plenty of Illinois Central locomotives rolling around in the pre 1967 black and white color scheme with the green diamond logo in the early 1970's rolling around the city of Chicago.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
