The CTA Route # 12 Roosevelt Road west terminal. Chicago Illinois USA. July 2003.

CTA Route # 12 Roosevelt Road bus in the west terminal at Roosevelt and Monitor. Chicago Illinois. July 2003.

I took this photo on location at West Roosevelt Road and South Monitor Avenue in Chicago Illinois, during July of 2003. After seeing an old photo or two of this unique bus terminal loop during electric trolleybus days at My links page
" Tom's Trolleybus Pictures"....I just felt a need to track this one down.
Little has changed here from pre 1973 times, when this bus terminal loop with a lunch counter diner serviced commuters and bus drivers when this was an electric trolleybus route.

Although the restaurant ownership has changed a number of times along with the names, the old storefronts, bus loop, and diner restaurant are still here alive and well today just east of the Chicago city limits. The old 1951 Marmon Herrington CTA electric trolleybus no longer arrive and depart from this transit loop around the storefront lunch counter diner, but this modern 1990's era Flxible Metro transit bus carries the tradition today on the Chicago Transit Authority Route # 12 Roosevelt Road bus line. Luckilly ...some things havn't changed and stood the test of time.

Roosevelt Road was originally serviced by eletric streetcars until 1950. It was operated by the CTA as an electric trolleybus route from 1950, until the end of trolleybus operations in 1973.
