Eastbound Metra locomotive running light through the Western Avenue station. Chicago Illinois USA. December 2006.
I took this classic Chicago Wintertime railfan photograph, in December of 2006 at the Metra, Western Avenue commuter rail station. This commuter rail facility is located at North Western Avenue near West Hubbard Street, and originally served the commuter and passenger trains of the former Milwaukee Road in past decades. This facility is adjacent to a couple of Metra coach yard and maintenance facilities at North California Avenue immediately west of the station.
An eastbound Metra MPI ( Motive Power Industries.) model MP-36PH passenger diesel electric locomotive, is viewed running light after leaving the Metra California Avenue ex Milwaukee Road coach yard and maintenance facility. The locomotive has been serviced, and is now running light to Chicago Union Station in preparation for the upcoming rush hour commuter train service later in the afternoon.
