I took this photo after work one summer afternoon, in June of 2007. Although the former Illinois Central Railroad and their Crawford Yard facility at the Chicago city limits were acquired by the Canadian National through merger in 1999, equipment and paint schemes from the fallen flag Illinois Central can still show up occasionally. I photographed these two former Illinois Central EMD roadswitchers in pre 1999 colors and markings, on the head end of a westbound freight train preparing to depart from Crawford Yard east of west suburban Cicero Illinois.
