Digital Live Sound Video: Westbound CTA Orange line train enroute to Midway Airport. Chicago Illinois USA. June 2008.

I photographed this digital live sound video one afternoon in June of 2008. We are standing just west of South Lawndale Avenue at approximately what would be West 49th Street. A westbound Chicago Transit Authority rapid transit train, is viewed speeding along the embankment on the CTA Orange Line to Chicago's Midway Airport. Prior to December of 1988, this was the ground leval and very poorly maintained Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad "Stockyards" branchline. After the IHB abandoned the Stockyards branch, the right of way was redeveloped in the elevated CTA orange line to Midway Airport on Chicago's southwest side. The line opened in November of 1993.

The overhead floodlights behind the embankment, mark this particular location as the Curie High School, Peter J. Hester Memorial Field. This is the Schools football and athletic field. I attended Curie High School from 1977 to 1981, and I recall having coach Peter J. Hester as My Gym teacher Freshman Year. He was a very good gym coach.

The ground leval train track in the foreground, is a heavilly balasted Belt Railway of Chicago branchline.
