Southbound Norfolk Southern Railroad transfer train. Chicago Illinois USA. September 1987.
I took this photo in September of 1987, while railfanning the Belt Railway of Chicago near West 63rd Street and South Knox Avenue near Chicago's Midway Airport. This heavy southbound Norfolk Southern transfer train, is moving slowly over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks, and will soon be arriving at the BRC's own Clearing Yard in southwest suburban Bedford Park Illinois. Notice that locomotives did not have pilot mounted Ditch Lights back in 1987.
