I took this photograph one summer afternoon back in June of 2008.
A southbound Canadian National transfer train traveling over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks enroute to Clearing Yard, is viewed passing over the former Illinois Central Railroad Iowa Division Mainline crosstracks at Hawthorne Junction. Hawthorne Junction is located directly on the Chicgo city limits border adjacent to west suburban Cicero Illinois.
Most of the train movements through here, are the many north and southbound moves over the Belt Railway of Chicago to and from Clearing Yard in southwest suburban Bedford Park Illinois.
