The Oak Park IL Society of Model Engineers,

The Wednsday night operating sessions at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.o Scale Model Railroad Club, can yield to some visual fun surprises at any given operating session.

A Bachman Spectrum Series 1910 era Baldwin 4-6-0 owned by fellow club member Alex, has to get a good running start to climb over the grade with a cut of cars in tow.

Freight trains have always become longer and heavier, and the prototype experienced the same problems, as these were small to mid size locomotives that were eventually transfered to branchline assignments.

Alex's locomotive is climbing the approach grade over a segement of the layout representing a crossing of the Missisippi River in Iowa.
