Historic Photo! Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway experimental lightweight interurban streetcar # 200 in downtown Joliet Illinois. Circa 1930 / 1934.

I found this photo on the internet, at a wonderful site known as Dave's Electric Railroads.

This photo was taken in downtown Joliet Illinois at some point in time during the early 1930's. The Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway traveled from South Archer and Cicero Avenues in the city of Chicago Illinois, all the way to the city of Joliet Illinois via the road known today as Illinois U.S Route # 171 / Archer Road.

Although the America was going through a tough period of economic hardship known wich became known as "The Great Depression" at the time of this photo, the Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway operated their lightweight interurban electric railway equipment until they closed down for good due to bankruptcy in the year of 1934.

In this photo, there wasn't anything depressing about taking a ride aboard C & J,E lightweight interurban car #200 on such a nice sunny day.
