The afternoon and evening of Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, found the greater Chicagoland area being hard hit with the high winds, low visibility and heavy lake effect snowfall from the Chicago blizzard of 2011. The snowstorm would continue on until approximately 11:00 AM the next day in some areas, and would leave a record snowfall accumulation total of 20.9 inches in some areas.
This photo was taken at the intersection of Kostner and Mulford Avenues in north suburban Skokie Illinois, facing east. This image shows the extent of the snowfall aftermath, just prior to some local snow rmoval efforts. The adjacent CTA Yellow line to the left of the photo, had snow to the very top of the third rail.
