A once popular and now fallen flag North American railroad that was certainly a favorite of mine, was the Grand Trunk Western Railroad.
The GTW was a United States subsidiary railroad of the Canadian National, and was known for being one of the last railroads in North America, to use steam locomotives in daily operations. Some places on their system, operated them until 1961.
I found this photo at My link page Fallen Flags.Org to the right of Your computer screen. Grand Trunk Western 2-8-0 freight service steam locomotive # 2684, is viewed in operation at Grand Havem Michigan in the year of 1956.
