Autum at Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois. October 2008.

Autum at Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois. October 2008.

I took this photo on a lovely late afternoon, in October of 2008. We are looking south on the Belt Railway of Chicago trackage at Hawthorne Junction. Off in the distance, we see a slow moving transfer freight train enroute to Clearing Yard. To the left of the photo, is the city of Chicago, while to the right...is west suburban Cicero Illinois. Hawthorne Junction is one of My personal favorite railfan outposts at the Chicago city limits. The seasonal bright Autum leaves in the adjacent lineside trees as well as the bright sunshine and warm temperatures...made this late day Indian Summer scene very special.

Hi Leomemorial / Renee.
Thank You for the nice comment. The nice thing about going on location railfanning with a camera, is that You don't necesarily have to be a train buff. Just being outdoors on a nice day like this with sunshine, nice scenery and warm temperatures is a pleasure in itself.
There were many times I went on location....and couldn't find any train activity at all. Being outside was a nice experience anyway in the fresh air and sunshine.

Thank You.
