Central Illinois Railroad crew member "John" on South Paulina Avenue. Chicago Illinois. Friday, October 31st, 2008.

On Friday morning, October 31st, 2008...I attended an open house public relations event that was sponsored by the local Chicago industrial shortline railroad known as the Central Illinois Railroad. The Central Illinois Railroad, is a privately owned former Burlington Northern Railroad industrial branchline, located in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago's near southside. Part of our activities that day, included chasing and photographing a working freight train.

Railroad crew member John shown here, was an excellent host and just a great guy all around. Here He is speaking to a group of fellow railfan photographers on South Paulina Avenue during a layover period between switching movements. In the background can be seen, Central Illinois Railroad # 1206. This is a rebuilt 1950's era EMD First Generation model SW-9 Yard switcher. The locomotive was just repainted into this pre 1970 Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad inspired "Heritage paint scheme. EMD switcher locomotives from the Chicago,Burlington & Quincy Railroad switched this branchline during the 1950;s and 60's in this color scheme.

A special thanks to the management and crew members of the Central Illinois Railroad.

Thanks Eddie. I just saw the locomotive this morning parked at the BNSF Western Avenue yard office. I wasn't aware it existed so I thought I was seeing things.
