I took this photo while standing in a line of photographers on a main line fantrip, while waiting for a photo runby. It was Saturday, October 28th, 1989....And the people at Metra, and the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, were hosting their last run EMD E-8 locomotive fantrip from Chicago to Harvard Illinois. The chartered train, was in the process of backing up for a photo run by at speed past this location in Richfield Illinois. Seen here directly behind Me, on private property belonging to a local grain company....is this old steam era relic from the defunct Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad was a large regional midwest and southwest railroad, that was very bankrupt in it's final years, and went out of business as a railroad in March of 1980.
