Central Illinois Railroad # 1206 backing on to the train. Chicago Illinois. Friday, October 31st, 2008.

On Friday morning, October 31st, 2008....I attended an unofficial company open house with several fellow railfan photographers, on the shortline industrial railroad known as the Central Illinois Railroad. Rebuilt 1950's era EMD model SW-9 yard switcher # 1206, is seen backing up to couple on to it's freight train. The locomotive crew just ran locomotive # 1206 past the train on the runaround siding, and is now preparing to couple on to the west end of the switching local freight train. The train will soon be enroute to the elevated BNSF Railway interchange at South Western and Blue Island Avenues.

This locomotive was repainted recently from DRSX Rail Services blue with a single hrizontal red stripe,in to this historic 1950's era Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR color scheme. The C,B & Q switched this particular industrial branchline with EMD switchers like this during the 1950's and 60's.
