A former Illinois Central locomotive on a Canadian National switching local. Forest Park Illinois USA. September 2006.
It was raining outside when I took this late afternoon photo, in September of 2006.
We are looking north from West Cermak Road, in west suburban Forest Park Illinois. The Canadian National Railroad operates this former Illinois Central dead end industrial spur branchline, wich is immediately adjacent to the east side of the Woodlawn Cemetery. West Cermak Road is the border that seperates North Riveride on the southside, and Forest Park on the northside of it. The Illinois Central was absorbed by the Canadian National in a 1999 merger. It takes awhile sometimes for equipment to get repainted, so an occasional former Ilinois Central, Grand Trunk Western, Wisconsin Central, or Duluth Winnepeg & Pacific unit will occasionaly show up on a Canadian National freight train anywhere.
